Spruce 'Little Gem'
Picea abies 'Little Gem'
Little Gem is a dwarf evergreen shrub that forms a dense, flattened globe over time. The needles emerge bright green in the spring and darken as they mature. It's a slow grower, producing only 1" of new growth per year.
Spruces grow best in full sun in rich, moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. They will tolerate light shade; too much shade will cause the needles to drop. Never let the soil fully dry out when the shrub is young, especially before winter. Protection is recommended over winter when newly planted.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
