Spruce 'Nest'
Picea abies 'Nidiformis'
Nest spruce is a small, slow-growing, dwarf evergreen that forms a mounded habit as it matures, with the center developing a slight depression over time, making it look like a bird's nest. The new needles emerge bright green and darken as they mature.
Spruces grow best in full sun in rich, moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. They will tolerate light shade; too much shade will cause the needles to drop. Never let the soil fully dry out when the shrub is young, especially before winter. Protection is recommended over winter when newly planted.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
