
Squash Cucuzzi/Cucuzza
Lagenaria siceraria
Cucuzzi, or Cucuzza, is an Italian squash that produces long, tender fruits that taste like a mixture of cucumber and zucchini. The squash start out fuzzy but become shinier as they mature.
Harvest your squash once it is between 12"-18" long and still thin. However, hey can be picked when smaller, don't leave them too long as they become woody and inedible.
Squash grow best in full sun with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Keep soil moist, but not soggy, especially when fruit is starting to appear. This plant is a vine and will require support (trellis, fence, stakes, etc.) to grow.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
