Squash 'Tromboncino'
Cucurbita moschata 'Tromboncino'
Tromboncino is an Italian squash that produces long, flavourful, firm fruits with no seeds.
Harvest your squash once it is between 8"-18" long and for best flavour. Don't leave them too long as they will become woody and inedible and your plant may stop producing new fruits.
Squash grow best in full sun with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Keep soil moist, but not soggy, especially when fruit is starting to appear. This plant is a vine and will require support (trellis, fence, stakes, etc.) to grow.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.
Characteristics
Hardiness: Non-Hardy/Annual
Does Not Require Cross-Pollination
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
