Swiss Chard 'Fordhook Giant'
Beta vulgaris var. cicla 'Fordhook Giant'
Fordhook Giant produces dark green leaves on thick, greenish-white stalks. It's cold hardy but can also tolerate some summer heat.
Swiss Chard can be harvested at almost any time. For baby chard, harvest when the leaves are between 3"-5". For mature harvests, wait until the leaf is 12" or more.
Swiss Chard grows best in full sun with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Keep the soil moist, not soggy. Swiss Chard is a cool-season crop and grows best before and after the heat of the summer.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available March through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
