Air Plant Tricolor var. Melanocrator
Tillandsia tricolor v. melanocrator
Tricolor var. Melanocrator is an air plant with stiff, green leaves that develop reddish-purple tips if light is adequate. It can produce a yellow-orange flower spike that lasts longer than other varieties. Generally, after flowering, the air plant will produce new plants (pups) from the base. These pups can be left on the mother plant to form a clump, or removed to grow on their own.
Air plants grow best in bright, indirect light but will tolerate medium light. They can be misted daily to provide hydration, but ideally should be soaked at least once a week for 10-20 minutes. After soaking, shake off any excess water and dry the plant upside down to discourage rot. If grown in a closed container, let it dry completely before putting it back.
