Virginia Creeper
Parthenocissus quinquefolia
Virginia Creeper is an Ontario native vine with green leaves, inconspicuous greenish-white flowers that turn into blue-black berries, and an excellent bright red fall colour. A vigorous grower, Virginia creeper its beloved by birds for its berries and the shelter it provides.
Virginia Creeper grows best in full to part sun. It will tolerate full shade, but the fall colour will be reduced. Virginia Creeper isn't particularly fussy about soil type, as long as it is well-drained.
Even though Virginia Creeper is native to our region, it is still an aggressive grower and should be planted in an area where it has room to spread.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.
