Polygonum amphibium
Water Smartweed is a native, fast-growing perennial with long, green leaves, reddish stems and clusters of small, pink flowers in summer. The seeds provide a food source for waterfowl.
Water Smartweed grows best in full to part sun in consistently wet soils, or submerged in water.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on supplier availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun) and Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
All plants classified as water plants prefer wet roots or to be partially submerged, depending on their submersion depth preferences. Plants with a submersion depth starting with 0cm can be planted in wet areas in the garden, in addition to pond edges.
