Watermelon 'Crimson Sweet'
Citrullus lanatus 'Crimson Sweet'
Crimson Sweet is a classic watermelon variety that is known for its reliable performance and high quality. Each melon is 10"-12" in diameter and on average weighs about 20lbs. The flesh is crisp with a sweet flavour and is usually seedless. This variety is resistant to Fusarium Wilt and Anthracnose.
Harvest your watermelon when the skin begins to turn dull, and the underside has turned creamy-yellow. Once ripe, your watermelon should sound hollow when tapped.
Watermelons are warm-season crops and should only be planted once the soil and nighttime temperatures are reliably warm. They grow best in full sun with highly fertile, light, well-drained soil and consistent moisture, especially when developing fruit. Stop watering once your melons are about a week away from being harvested.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
