Watermelon 'Sugar Baby'

Sugar Baby is an heirloom variety of watermelon that produces 7" round fruits with firm, sweet flesh and small black seeds. 

Harvest your watermelon when the skin turns a dull, almost black colour and the underside has turned creamy-yellow. Once ripe, your watermelon should sound hollow when tapped. 

Watermelons are warm-season crops and should only be planted once the soil and nighttime temperatures are reliably warm. They grow best in full sun with highly fertile, light, well-drained soil and consistent moisture, especially when developing fruit. Stop watering once your melons are about a week away from being harvested.
