Wisteria sinensis 'Alba'

Alba is a type of Chinese Wisteria with fragrant, pure-white flowers in late spring/early summer. It requires regular pruning to control the plant's size and shape and to encourage flowering. 

Chinese Wisteria grows best in full sun with slightly acidic, fertile, somewhat moist, well-draining soil. Like most vines, it can be slow to establish. 

Chinese Wisteria is an aggressive grower and should be planted in an area where it has room to grow and strong support. 

Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.

Care

Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)

Water every 1-3 days for first year until established (based on outdoor temperature & plant's water consumption).

Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.

Chinese Wisteria should be pruned twice a year. After flowering any small green shoots of the current years growth should be cut back to 5-6 leaves. This will help control the size of the Wisteria and help promote the production of flower buds. In the late winter/early spring when the vine is dormant, cut back any excess growth to the trunk and shorten runners down to 2-3 buds per stem.
