Yew 'Kobes Hicks'

Kobes hicks yew is an upright evergreen shrub. Its dense growth makes it a great choice for hedging and privacy screens. Kobes hicks also produces red ornamental berries with a small, highly toxic brown seed inside. If you have small children or pets that are prone to eating berries, we recommend planting another variety of yew that produces little to no berries, like hills. When compared to hicks, kobes hicks is slightly faster growing, a bit hardier, and less prone to winter burn. 

Yews grow best in full to part sun, but can tolerate close to full shade. They prefer moist, sandy/loamy, well-drained soil and will not tolerate wet conditions; good drainage is essential for their survival. We recommend planting them in sheltered locations, as winter winds can dry out their needles.
