Effective January 3rd, 2019

It is normal for plants to experience some stress for a period after planting, which can be shown through wilting, limited new growth, small leaves, or loss of colour on foliage. This is typically caused by a sudden change to the plant’s environment, including light conditions, watering frequency, and root shock. Please remember that a plant is a living organism and needs some time to adjust to their new home. With frequent watering, appropriate fertilizing, and some time, the root system will establish itself and any plant that is experiencing transplant shock should recover well.

Plant material will not be accepted for guarantee returns from September 30th to May 1st. This is generally the dormant season of the plant and growth will be negligible for any plants that are covered under our guarantee. Depending on the weather and the plant, you can expect to see new Spring growth in your garden between mid-May and the beginning of July. Often, your plants just need more time and warmer weather to wake up after their winter dormancy.

Guarantee Policy

Trees and Shrubs

All hardy trees, shrubs, and vines are guaranteed until the end of September, 2 years after your purchase. If the plant dies within that time, a store credit will be issued for the amount paid upon the presentation of the dead plant with it’s root system intact, and proof of purchase (receipt or paid invoice with a Vandermeer Nursery guarantee tag attached). Failure to remove the plant from its pot and plant it in the ground will render your guarantee null and void.

Roses

Roses are guaranteed until the end of September of the year it was purchased. Any roses purchased after September 30th will not be guaranteed. If the plant dies within that time, a store credit will be issued for the amount paid upon the presentation of the dead plant with it’s root system intact, and proof of purchase (receipt or paid invoice with a Vandermeer Nursery guarantee tag attached). Failure to remove the plant from its pot and plant it in the ground will render your guarantee null and void.

Perennials

Perennials are guaranteed until the end of September, 1 year after your purchase. If the plant dies within that time, a store credit will be issued for the amount paid upon the presentation of the dead plant with its root system intact, and proof of purchase in the form of a receipt of paid invoice. Failure to remove the plant from its pot and plant it in the ground will render your guarantee null and void.

Water Plants

Hardy water plants are guaranteed until the end of September, 1 year after your purchase. If the plant dies within that time, a store credit will be issued for the amount paid upon presentation of the dead plant with its root system intact, and proof of purchase in the form of a receipt of paid invoice. Tropical waterplants are not covered under our guarantee policy. Please see our Return Policy for more details.

Pond Hardware

Returns of pond hardware will be at the discretion of the Pond Department Manager based on the item and its condition, and if accepted, the return will we issued in the form of a credit note. The pond hardware and the receipt should be brought to the Pond Department first for approval before the store credit will be issued at Customer Service.


Store Credit Notes

Store credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date it was issued and may be used towards the purchase of any product in Vandermeer Nursery except gift cards.

Our Return Policy

Plant material can be returned within 14 days of purchase with the original receipt and tags as long as it is in the original container and the plant is in good health. Annuals, tropical plants, hanging baskets, fish, and live insect products are not guaranteed.

Clearance items, custom cut-to-size orders (pond liner, hoses, etc.), fish, live insect control products (nematodes, ladybugs, bees, praying mantis, etc.), and sod are final sale. If there is an issue with sod, please contact us within 24 hours of your purchase.

All other products may be returned within 14 days of purchase with the original receipt, as long as they are in original, new condition.

For easy returns, please save your tags and receipt!

Our Holding Policy

Items to be picked up in store can be chosen by the customer and held for 24 hours without payment or 2 weeks if paid for in full. For any items being delivered (trees, shrubs, etc.), they will be held until the delivery date.
